Weaving Identities: A Teacher Toolkit Towards a Southeast Asian Community
ASEAN Vision 2015 aspired for the establishment of a community of ASEAN nations living peacefully, enjoying prosperity and development, and having “caring societies.” This regional cohesion was anchored on three pillars: political-security community, economic community, and socio-cultural community. In support of this Vision, SEAMEO INNOTECH initiated the Weaving Identities: A Teacher Toolkit Towards a Southeast Asian Community.
The Weaving Identities Toolkit is a resource material, comprised of information, teaching and learning materials, and support materials about shared values, history and heritage to support Southeast Asian regional integration. Drawing from the three pillars of ASEAN, the Toolkit aims to expand one’s knowledge of the politics, economy and culture of Southeast Asia. It is available in multiple platforms: print and digital.
The print and web version of the Toolkit was launched a few years back and has since been used by schools in Southeast Asia. With the addition of an eBook format and new materials, SEAMEO INNOTECH will re-introduce the Toolkit to teachers, educators, practitioners of other related field, partners and stakeholders.
ASEAN regional integration continues to move forward with ASEAN 2025: Forging Ahead Together, focused on strengthening regional community building. The Toolkit supports this new initiative through its content and opportunities for sharing ideas among Southeast Asian educators.
Weaving Identities: A Teacher Toolkit Towards a Southeast Asian Community will be formally re-launched on 19 July 2016, 1 PM at the SEAMEO INNOTECH Center. View the programme here.
