SEAMEO INNOTECH Joins Forces with DepEd to Revolutionize Philippine Education Through AI

Manila, Philippines– SEAMEO INNOTECH, in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), is proud to announce the launch of the groundbreaking Education Center for AI Research (E-CAIR) initiative. This strategic partnership is set to transform teaching, learning, and administrative practices in schools nationwide through the power of artificial intelligence. 

The launch event marked a pivotal moment for the initiative. Prominent leaders from both the public and private sectors gathered to mark this significant milestone, including Senate Committee on Basic Education Chairperson Sen. Win Gatchalian, House Committee on Basic Education and Culture Chairperson Rep. Roman Romulo, TESDA Director-General Jose Francisco Benitez, and DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy. The event offered stakeholders a closer look at the vision behind E-CAIR and its potential to elevate educational practices.

During the event, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara emphasized the transformative potential of the initiative, stating, “Hindi po tayo makikipagsabayan para lang masabi na ‘tech-savvy’ tayo. We are here to use AI as a tool for genuine, enduring reforms. This is the promise of the President’s Bagong Pilipinas.”

SEAMEO INNOTECH Center Director Dr. Majah-Leah Ravago also delivered a warm message of support. She highlighted the critical role of E-CAIR in shaping the future of education.  

“A center and vision to be a pioneering hub where AI-powered solutions will enhance learning equity, strengthen teaching effectiveness, and shape forward-thinking and education policies. With AI’s potential to revolutionize learning, E-CAIR will offer cutting-edge research and policy insights to ensure ethical and impactful AI integration in education,” she stated. 

Following the success of the launch, SEAMEO INNOTECH is set to advance the project into its next phase. The project is designed to develop and implement innovative AI-powered tools that enhance the quality of education. By streamlining school operations and delivering personalized learning experiences, E-CAIR aims to equip educators and administrators with data-driven insights for timely and effective decision-making.
