INNOTECH Continues to Underscore Learning Innovations with the Southeast Asian Educational Innovation Awards (SEA-EIA)
SEAMEO INNOTECH launched the second cycle of the Southeast Asian Educational Innovation Awards (SEA-EIA) last March 18, 2024.
SEA-EIA is an initiative by INNOTECH that aims to honor, emphasize, and highlight the importance of developing teaching and learning practices. The Awards also serve as a platform for teachers, school heads, and educators to showcase their new wave of innovations, and underscore their efforts as they shape the educational landscape of the region.
The first cycle of the innovation awards was launched in June 2021, with the theme, “Educational Innovations in the Time of COVID: Exploring Possibilities and Improving Learning for All.” The SEA-EIA celebrated creations by educators, school heads, and teachers that focused on improving the learner’s educational environment during the pandemic. Following the success of the first cycle, INNOTECH continues to underscore the importance of learning innovations in the region.
With the theme for the second cycle of the SEA-EIA being “Innovative Human-Centered Learning for Future-Ready Schools,” the Awards aims to emphasize the importance of human-centric approaches in preparing students for the future, especially as the changing educational landscape calls for the prioritization of teaching and learning methods that place human needs and experiences at the heart of education. Through this theme, the second cycle of the SEA-EIA encourages innovations that empower educational institutions to adapt, thrive, and remain relevant in the face of emerging challenges and opportunities, both in the physical and virtual world.
SEAMEO INNOTECH officially launched the second cycle of the innovation awards that prompted the call for nominations. Previous winners from the inaugural cycle, namely Ms. Joana B. Romano, Ms. Betya Sahara, Ms. Mary Hazel Ballena, and Mr. Rowan L. Celestra, joined and shared their experiences that highlighted the importance and significance of their innovation.
SEA EIA cycle 2 is open to teachers, school heads, and educators who have developed and applied their human-centric learning innovations from 2022 to the present. Nominations can be submitted until June 30, 2024, 23:59 Hrs (Philippine Standard Time, GMT+8).
