SEAMEO INNOTECH Enhances Leadership Skills of Southeast Asian School Heads Through Specialized Training Program

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization – Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH) successfully conducted the Southeast Asian School Leadership Program (SEA-SLP) to 28 school leaders and managers from 10 Southeast Asian countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines).

The program equipped participants with essential knowledge and abilities crucial for high-performing school leaders, focusing on competencies such as strategic thinking and innovation, instructional leadership, stakeholder engagement, managerial leadership, and personal excellence.

SEA SLP is a three-phased blended program comprised of online and in-person training.

Participants engaged in introspection regarding their leadership strengths and practices, analyzed current educational landscapes, and envisioned novel goals for schools, educators, and learners. They also gained practical insights into employing various tools and strategies for effective school management and leadership. Institutional visits were also conducted at Kapitolyo High School in Pasig City, the Department of Education International Cooperation Office and the Ateneo Science and Art of Teaching and Learning Institute.

By the end of the training, SEAMEO INNOTECH Centre Director Leonor Magtolis-Briones, challenged the participants, “Now that you have developed innovative prototypes through Design Thinking, it is time to take action! We are excited to see you begin implementing these prototypes within your schools and Ministries of Education.”
