Raising the Standard of Early Childhood Care and Development

It is a commitment of the Government of the Philippines (GOP) to achieve the universal aspirations of all 192 United Nations member states for Education for All (EFA) and the Millennium Development Goals by year 2015. Of the six internationally agreed EFA goals aimed to meet the learning needs of all children, youth and adults by 2015.

The Department of Education (DepED) National EFA Committee identified six most critical tasks that will yield the desired educational outcomes by year 2015. One task may directly inform the development of an education policy paper on Raising the Standard of Early Childhood Care and Development, namely: to make expansion of Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) coverage yield more EFA benefits.
