POLICY FORUM ON PHILIPPINE EFA ASSESSMENT

With major educational reforms currently underway and the current national government’s strong pronouncement of support in education, the Department of Education, through the National EFA Committee, organized a policy forum on 18 January 2012 at SEAMEO INNOTECH to get a hold of where the Philippines stands in terms of attaining the EFA 2015 targets.

The forum specifically looked into the state of EFA in the Philippines, as well as assessment strategies employed in the Asia-Pacific region. Inputs on these were provided by Mr. Roger Masapol of the National EFA Committee, and Dr. Sheldon Shaeffer, international education consultant and former director of UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education.

Panel discussions were led by Dr. Erlinda C. Pefianco, ECCD Consultant and SEAMEO INNOTECH former Center Director, and Mr. Napoleon Imperial, Deputy Executive Director of the Commission on Higher Education.

The policy forum is part of a series of lectures being conducted as a tribute to the memory of Dr. Victor Ordoñez, an internationally known and well-respected education expert, who has helped advanced the cause of education for all.
