Allow me to capture the words mentioned by Sir Engel … Nothing beats someone who has a portrayal of good language and safe behavior”. Being a parent is one of the most rewarding and challenging jobs, it entails hard work, patience, tons of understanding, adjustments and a multitude of compassion and love to your kids. We work so hard in order to provide the best for them and making their future safe and convenient but as we move mountains for them we failed to provide quality time and we thought that since they are inside of our homes they are already safe and secured.

The use of the internet as a way to make education accessible and possible even if they are within the four-corners of our home does not guarantee safety and security. As parents we should know how to identify the red flags that we need to avoid and deviate the attention of our kids with constant monitoring. We should be grateful if we have parents who can guide us on how to be responsible citizens and be safe online. But how about those who doesn’t have the capacity to teach, explain and direct the kids about the value of online safety? Are they more susceptible to danger? Definitely yes and that is where the Teacher comes in and play a significant role to be the second parent.

It’s easier said than done but if we work together for the common good, we can create a safe digital world with responsible citizens.

Digital Technology has its way of creating vast opportunities, where the possibilities are limitless and it goes beyond borders. It paved the way to tons of information, can move freely from one place to another virtually without the hassle of traffic and even immigration checkpoints. A humongous potential awaits every soul but what makes this technology a bit scary? It’s the foundation on how an individual can decipher the good and not so good side of it. Hence, the learning experience design is really crucial, no matter how good you integrate ICT to your lesson if it does not serve its main purpose or value then it will always be a failure.  As an ALS implementer, it is our obligation, our duty and accountability to educate our learners on the pros and cons and maximize the features while minimizing its risks. Let us continue to explore, do research and think and act outside the box. In the end, we are responsible and accountable to the success and failure of our students…leave no stones unturned.

That’s true Sir Osias, still practice makes perfect and victory loves preparation. We want our learners to be the best that they can be 🙂
