Our Virtual "Self"
-
I believe one of the most challenging roles that we play nowadays is keeping our dual citizenship – (physical and virtual) values intact while performing as a productive citizen particularly teacher in the society. It has been mentioned through the podcast listened to that digital citizenship, our virtual self, is an extension of our individual personhood. And that through it, we have the power to the nine (9) different elements revolving both our physical and virtual community thus leaves digital footprints.
From these hereon, every learner if not every child, must be taught accordingly. Digital natives they may be called or whatever generation they may belong whether they may be more advance in using the technology, we do not assume that everyone understands the meaning of digital safety and security. We as teachers should then become role models in shaping them towards a better virtual/digital community. This is the start of our exploration journey towards our better “virtual self” and become better digital citizens!
