The Asynchronous Task 2 of the MT4T provides us an avenue in order to critically evaluate the relationship of these MT4T materials with the ALS K to 12 BEC, particularly when it comes to LS6 – Digital Citizenship.

I was delighted with the idea that finally with these electronic materials we will have an added capacity in attaining the learning competencies of LS6. I have the chance to browse all the materials but I chose to share my insights on the following materials: podcast – Episode 1 Digital Citizenship, e-Citizenship Learning Packet and e-Book for Teachers about Cyber Wellness and Digital Citizenship.

First, the podcast Episode 1. Since this was the first time I listened toa podcast, I was grateful for instructions (posted in FB group) have been given to a newbie like me. This episode includes the following LS6 Digital Citizenship
Learning Competencies: Define Information and Communication Technology (ICT) using examples in daily life LS6DC-DC-PSA-LE-1, Explain the meaning of Digital Ethics and why it is important LS6DC-DE-PSF-JHS-2, Explain different terminologies in safe and responsible use of digital technologies:cyber ethics, cyber safety, cyber wellness, cyber security LS6DC-DE-PSF
AE/JHS-4. This material can support the LS6 since it discussed topics tackling the abovementioned competencies. It tackles ideas on what learners should know about Digital Citizenship as a whole. I want to emphasize the definition given in the podcast – that Digital Citizenship doesn’t have a single definition. It depends on binding elements as to where or what department it is used. But to quote down, Digital Citizenship is defined as developing proper etiquette digital education, digital commerce, entrepreneurship, digital rights and
responsibilities and digital safely. Another significant concept is the Digital Footprint, this is a reality that our learners should know and develop. Digital Footprint as anything that is what you leave online. This should come with proper digital behavior to protect one’s self and other people.

Secondly, the e-Citizenship Learning Packet. I have the opportunity to read the LP on Internet Addiction. This Learning Packet targets the following LS6 Learning Competencies: Explain how to minimize the risks of negative online behaviors—Internet Addiction LS6DC-DE-PSF-AE/JHS-5, Practice respectful conduct when using the internet (Sensitivity to national and local culture, Avoiding and identify misrepresentation and fraud, Internet etiquette while chatting, emailing, blogging, and using social media, Protecting personal information LS6DC-DE-PSF-AE/JHS-3, Explain how to minimize the risks of negative online behaviors (pornography, internet addiction…) LS6DC-DE-PSF-AE/JHS-5. As learners will be taught on the Performance Standard A or PSA, the key concepts on Digital Citizenship, Internet Addiction is a substantial topic to be developed to our learners. As learners are open to the world of internet, this can lead to internet addiction which are clearly discussed in this LP. Furthermore, the videos and activities presented in this LP are timely and enjoyable. Substantial Assessment was also covered.

Lastly, the e-book for Teachers about Cyber Wellness and Digital Citizenship. This e-book is intended for teachers but it adapted Learning Competencies in LS6. The following are the LS6 LCs; ¨ Distinguish ethical versus unethical behavior as a user of digital technology (digital plagiarism, breaking copyright and software theft, improper use of digital resources, securing information privacy and confidentiality, computer fraud, plagiarism) LS6DC-DE-PSF-AE/JHS-3, Digital citizen identity LS6DC-DE-PSF-JHS-7, Digital rights LS6DC-DE-PSF-JHS-8, Digital higher order thinking LS6DC-DE-PSF-JHS-9, Digital communication LS6DC-DE-PSF-JHS-10, Digital Security LS6DC-DE-PSF-JHS-11. Indeed, I believe this is a COMPLETE PACKAGE! All the digital concepts and practices are presented in this book. There are well-defined and well-organized topics and objectives, substantial topics and lessons, use of comprehensive charts and figures, and a powerful
    house of references.

These three are full packages – if the teaching of this is planned well, executed properly, taught well to learners and learners’ ideas and behaviors are transformed – the Learning Competencies of LS6 will be a huge success! SEAMEO INNOTECH and DepEd ALS deserve to be applauded! God bless us, God bless ALS!
