INNOTECH’s EIAP and E-NAY.com Launch Two-Day Partnership Forum and Capacity Building for Women’s Groups in Sorsogon City
Almost 700 women from 64 barangays affiliated with the SORSOGON CITY LOCAL COUNCIL FOR WOMEN attended the two-day Education for Nanay (mother) in the Community (E-Nay.Com) Partnership Forum and Capacity Building in SM City Sorsogon. The E-Nay.Com is a community-based capacity-building program for parents as learning partners. Through E-Nay.Com, E-Nay Hubs (small learning hubs at home) are established within the school-community and mothers are trained in managing small groups of learners to serve as tutors or teachers-aid.
Through INNOTECH’s Educational Innovation Accelerator Program (EIAP), E-Nay.Com undergoes a series of technical assistance, including but not limited to, mentoring, coaching, pitching opportunities, and a modest grant to help with improving and scaling-up the identified school-based innovation.
The two-day activity – an integral part of E-Nay.Com’s acceleration plan under the EIAP – was attended by the Center’s Dr. Diosdado M. San Antonio, Manager of Educational Research and Innovation Office (ERIO) and Ms. Kaylene L. Fernandez, Senior Associate and EIAP Project Coordinator.
Apart from INNOTECH, the event was likewise attended by City Councilor Maria Theresa Perdigon; City Councilor Maria Theresa Gonzalez; Sorsogon City Mayor Ma. Ester Hamor through Ms. Charo Logronio, Ms. Katherine Clarice Santiago of SM City Sorsogon; Mr. Eduardo Jimenez, Head, Corporate Relations Department of the Energy Development Corporation Bacon-Manito Geothermal Project through Ms. Rowena Daep, and Head Abbess Venerable Miao Jing from Fo Guang Shan Inc.
The EIAP supports INNOTECH’s mandate to identify educational needs and develop innovative solutions to address the varied learning needs of Southeast Asian school communities. It aims to accelerate solutions development through collaborative engagement with school-based innovators to reach and benefit as many learners as possible. The EIAP’s pilot run is currently being implemented in the Philippines, with the hope of expanding its implementation in the Southeast Asian region in the succeeding years.
