FORMER CENTER DIRECTOR AWARDED MEDAL FOR EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Former SEAMEO INNOTECH Director Dr. Erlinda C. Pefianco was awarded the Medal for Educational Achievements by the SEAMEO Regional Training Center (RETRAC) last January 13, 2011. The award was given to acknowledge Dr. Pefianco’s contributions to the continued educational cooperation between the education ministries of Vietnam and the Philippines, and particularly between SEAMEO INNOTECH and SEAMEO RETRAC. The event was attended by officials of the two SEAMEO Centers as well as officials from the Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training and the Philippine Department of Education. Dr. Pefianco served as SEAMEO INNOTECH’s director from 1998 to 2010, during which she promoted stronger inter-center collaboration in strategic planning, marketing, and human resource development through programs like eXCELS (Excellence in School Leadership for Southeast Asia). RETRAC was INNOTECH’s partner center in Vietnam in developing and testing the pilot course under eXCELS that trains school heads in instructional and curriculum leadership.
