The SEAMEO Schools’ Network was first established since 2015 and has been re-launched since October 2020 as part of the contribution to the Southeast Asian community and the celebration of SEAMEO 55th Anniversary. The Network aims to serve as a “Network of Sharing and Development” platform among public and private educational institutions at all levels from kindergarten, primary, secondary, vocational and technical, polytechnics, universities, special needs education, and non-formal education in 11 SEAMEO Member countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam). Currently, the number of member institutions is 2,973, mostly is secondary schools from the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia (as of Dec 2022).

As the Network is established during the COVID-19 period, the members benefit the virtual programs/activities developed by the SEAMEO Centers and SEAMEO partners. For educational leaders, school administrators, teachers and students in the network, they have a chance to access to the capacity development and innovative educational programs/activities, webinars, competitions, training courses, and upcoming events that cover various topics within the fields of education, science, and culture. The network also provides partnership development to raise the member’s international profile with other educational institutions in the region through SEAMEO online communication platforms.

While the world has recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic in 2023, new technological advancements are still being made to make teaching and learning easier. Additionally, new mindsets and skill sets are being developed to equip educators and learners with the high-demand abilities they will need to succeed in the new world.

The SEAMEO Secretariat realizes these trends and thus collaborates with our global educational partners who are government/development agencies as well as private enterprises in organizing the SEAMEO Schools’ Network Summit (Virtual) on the Future of Teaching and Learning on Thursday 9 March 2023 at 14:00-15:45 hrs (GMT+7, Bangkok Time) exclusively for the SEAMEO Schools’ Network members.

The SEAMEO Schools’ Network Summit (Virtual) seeks to:

• Provide educators and education leaders with a common understanding of the trends informing the future of education;
• Share technology advances and up-to-date solutions from the SEAMEO Partners to help future generations embrace global mindsets and skill sets; and
• Offer the SEAMEO Schools’ Network members free new educational programs, training courses, services, products, and learning materials from SEAMEO Partners.
